I have always been an amateur guiratist until one day, when I picked up an old dusty bowl back mandolin from a flea market stand in Canberra. I didn't really want to buy it. It was soiled, had no strings and looked very neglected. Well, after wandering around and having two or three more looks at it, I decided that $30.00 was not a great deal of money to part with and I got it.

That afternoon I bought a new set of strings, new tuners and new nut (luckily the loose bridge was inside the body) from a local music store. It took me a week to put it back together and to adjust it nicely. And, my oh my, the baby started to sing. It turned out to be a very nice Italian mandolin over 100 years old.

I was browsing through the web pages soon after, looking for a classic acoustic guitar for myself, as nice as possible for the limited budged I allocated myself. Eventually I found numerous luthier's ads in various countries, but their prices were much higher than my budget allowed. Being close to giving up I placed some ads in musical forums and to my surprise I got several offers shortly after. To cut a long story short I ended up ordering a custom made mandolin from a small workshop in Asia instead. It arrived quickly and turned out to be a surprisingly good instrument.

I taught myself to play a mandolin, which was not hard after a guitar and played for my friends. Soon after someone asked me if I could get a mandolin for him, then another friend rang. So, that how it all started.
